The other day I met up with two of my good friends Sharon and Rona. I had seen Sharon since I've been here, but it was the first time that I had seen Rona since the mission. They were so excited to see me that they took me out to a SUPER nice Chinese restaurant right on the Tevere river in Ostia. It wasn't like the all-you-can-eat chinese buffets that we have in the U.S. It was NICE! I had a crab and pineapple salad, some shark steaks, some oyster tortellini, sushi, and all sorts of other awesome seafood. We had lots of fun, and it was so great seeing them again. I'm going to miss them so much when I leave!
Then, I took the metro from Ostia back to the center of Rome. There I walked from Termini station to the yellow tram that usually takes me back to Maria Teresa's house, but it was closed because it was so late! So I ran back to Termini and waited forever for the appropriate bus. On the bus, since it was so hot and so late, I fell asleep and woke up WAY past where I was supposed to get off. I ran towards the nearest stop of the yellow tram, and, since I knew it was closed and no trains were coming, I jumped over the wall and onto the train tracks and began running along the tracks back towards Maria Teresa's house. After a while I saw the bus that I needed ahead of me, driving along. I called upon my viking ancestors to give me an extra burst of speed and I MADE HASTE to the next bus stop before the bus got there, caught the bus, and rode back to Maria Teresa's house. I got there at 2 in the morning.
Then the next morning we got dressed and went to church in the Rome 3 ward. Holy crap, I felt like a celebrity! As soon as I walked in, all the members dropped what they were doing and swarmed around me giving me hugs and kisses. They were all so happy to see me! The missionaries later told me "dang, man, you must have been a heck of a missionary if they all love you so much." :) It was so fun seeing all the members again! I don't think that I've ever been told so many times in such a short period that I'm too skinny and I need to eat more. I caught them up on my life and asked them all about the new changes in the ward, and met some new converts that had been baptized after I left. I did the interpretation in sunday school class just for fun just like old times, and it brought back so many memories.
Then I went to my friend Sandra's house for lunch with the Garcia family, and we had a great time eating and drinking mate together. Sandra's husband is a clothes distributor, and he gave me a buttload of really nice clothes for free. He's such a nice guy.
This morning, while Maria Teresa went to work, I took Greta out on a date. She wanted to go eat a cornetto in a cafe together, and then we went to the park and played on the swings. Then, when we got home, I inflated her kiddie pool for her and filled it up on the balcony. Now I'm cooking dinner while she's out there in the pool. She was super amazed that I was able to inflate the pool with my mouth, and said "Mamma always has to use the pump, but you're so strong that you can do it with your lungs!" It's nice when kids think that you're a superhero :) I love kids so much! Especially ones that love me back like Greta.
