There are a few things that I want to talk about that are very important to me lately, because they've been practically all that I've been thinking about lately.
The first one is Farsi. A while back I felt a very strong prompting, along with a "Diosidencia", that convinced me that I should devote myself to studying Farsi as much as I possibly can. I started putting a full effort into it. I looked online, rented books from the library, found native speakers on the internet, and practice every day. One of my coworkers (a native Persian) has been helping me, and even lent me a children's book so that I can read a story with simple vocabulary and a familiar story. I've been trying my very hardest to learn, because I feel like it's very important for my future, and one day I'll need it. This fall I'm 90% sure that I'm moving to Boston for a couple of months to attend a language immersion institute for Farsi. I'm trying my very best to gather all the money necessary, because if I can afford to do that immersion institute, it would help me so much. I could test out of 12 credits of Farsi in school and use it as one of the languages in my minor (which would allow me to graduate with an International Studies major, emphasis in Russian, and a Multilingual Minor with French and Farsi). This is what I'm trying to memorize in Farsi right now:

ـ(۱) ما به خدا، پدر جاويد، و به پسرش عيسی مسيح، و به روان پاک باور داريم۰
ـ(۲) ما باور داريم كه مردم به كيفر گناهان خودشان رسانده ميشوند، و نه به كيفر سرپيچيهای آدم۰
ـ(۳) ما باور داريم كه از راه بازپردازی مسيح، با فرمانبرداری به دادها و فرمانهای راه خدا، همه مردم ميتوانند رستگار باشند۰
ـ(۴) ما باور داريم كه نخستين پايه ها و فرمانهای راه خدا چنين است: نخست، باور به خداوند عيسی مسيح؛ دوم، رها كردن گناها؛ سوم، در آب فرو برده شدن برای آمرزش گناها؛ چهارم، دست گذشتن روی سر كسی برای بخشش روان پاک۰
ـ(۵) ما باور داريم كه مردی بايد از راه آشكارنمای خدا، و از راه روی سر دست گذشتن از آنان كه توانای دارند، از خدا گماشته شود، تا راه خدا را ياد بدهد و در آئينهای آن همكاری نمايد۰
ـ(۶) ما به همان سازمانی كه در كليسای باستانی بود، يا به واژهای ديگر، به فرستادگان، پيامبران، پيشوايان، آموزشگاران، پيام آوران دينی، و ديگر باور داريم۰
ـ(۷) ما به بخشش زبانها، پيشگوی، آشكارنمای، بينشها، خوب كردن بيماران، دريافت زبانها، و ديگر باور داريم۰
ـ(۸) ما باور داريم كه ترات و انجيل، تا آنجای كه درست رونوشت شده باشند، سخن خدا است؛ ما نيز باور داريم كه مرمن نامه سخن خدا ميباشد۰
ـ(۹) ما به هرچه خدا آشكار نموده است، و هرچه اكنون آشكار مينمايد باور داريم، و باور داريم كه او در باره پادشاهی خدا بسيار چيزهای بزرگ و گرانمای را آشكار خواهد نمود۰
ـ(۱۰) ما به فراهم آوردن راستين اسرائيل و به بازاوری ده ايل باور داريم، تا اينكه صيهون (اورشليم نوين)، در سرزمين امريكا ساخته خاهد شد؛ و كه مسيح خود در زمين فرمانروای خواهد كرد؛ و زمين تازه خواهد شد و شكوه فردوسی خود را خواهد يافت۰
ـ(۱۱) ما بايسته پرستيدن خدا را برابر گفته های منش خودمان ميخواهيم، و به همه مردم همان بايسته را روا داريم، بگذار كه آنان هر گونه، و هر كجا، و هر چيزی را كه بخواهند بپرستند۰
ـ(۱۲) ما باور داريم كه زير فرمان شاهان، سرپرستان كشورها، فرمانروايان، و دادستانان باشيم، و كه دادهای كشور را گرامی داشته و از آن فرمانبرداری و پشتبانی نمايم۰
ـ(۱۳) ما به راست و درستكار بودن، پرهيزكار، و پاكدامن، و نيكخواه بودن، و به همه مردم خوبی نمودن باور داريم؛ به راستی، ميتوانيم بگوئيم كه اندرز پلوس پيروی ميكنيم ـ همه چيزها را باور داريم، همه چيزها را آرزو داريم، بسيار چيزها را تاب آورديم، و آرزو داريم كه بتوانيم همه چيزها را تاب بياوريم۰ اگر چيزی باشد نيكو، يا زيبا، يا نيک شمرده، يا شايان ستايش، دنبال آن

The other thing that I've been devoting all my free time to is Capoeira. I started going to the Capoeira gym in Salt Lake again, for the first time since before my mission. It feels SO GOOD! I've been missing Capoeira so much, and it's the one thing that can always cheer me up no matter what. I was missing the physical exercise, since I'm usually working all day in an office and don't get a lot of opportunities to do something physical. I love the community, because it's very open and friendly. Everyone always says hi and greets everyone, even complete strangers who show up to class for the first time, as if they're part of the family, because the Capoeira community IS like a family.
I've been training really hard, because this saturday I have my Batezado (baptism), which is the ceremony where I face the Mestre (master) in the ring and he evaluates whether or not I'm ready for my next chord (which is like a belt in karate). I've been training hard for weeks. The hardest part about it is strengthening my feet. Before the mission my feet were like shoes, because they were so calloused from doing Capoeira barefoot on a hard floor. But since I haven't done it for two years, my feet have grown soft, and they get torn up and so sore after every Capoeira training. I'm trying to callous them up again so that for the Batezado I'm at the height of my game. I'm really excited, and hope I do well. I'm testing for my second chord.
Otra cosa linda que me pasó esta semana es que fui a una Charla Fogonera para la Región Hispana acá en la ciudad. Habló un miembro de la Setenta, y nos enseño acerca de como podemos ser autosuficientes. Me encantó lo que nos enseño acerca de la Ley de la Cosecha, que dice que no se cosecha lo que no se sembra. Nos preguntó, Chicos, ¿cuando ustedes se encuentran con problemas, sembran quejas y excusas? ¿O sembran soluciones? Porque solo una de esas cosas les va a permitir cosechar algo bueno que les va a ayudar con el problema. También me gustó lo que nos enseño acerca de nuestra responsabilidad de animar a los demás para que también ellos puedan tener éxito en las cosas que hacen.
